Heritage conservation controls sit over most of the suburb, and they shape how we work just as firmly as the age of the cabling behind the walls. The facade and roofline generally can't change, so improvements happen behind the plaster rather than announced from the footpath.

That's less of a constraint than it sounds. A board upgrade or a full rewire doesn't touch a single heritage-listed detail on the outside, and a careful crew can thread new cable through an old ceiling cavity without disturbing an original cornice.

Ask around the estate's older streets and six jobs come up more than any others.

3. Smoke alarms brought up to code, interconnected and wired in rather than left on batteries.
4. EV charger installation, which starts with a capacity check because an original board rarely has room to spare.
5. Lighting chosen to suit high period ceilings and the formal rooms at the front of these terraces.
6. Power points added where a hundred-year-old floor plan never anticipated today's device count.

A stubborn intermittent fault or a one-off appliance connection doesn't have to fit that list to get a firm price on paper and the same team you'd get for a bigger job.

If you catch the smell of hot plastic near a switch or the board, that's the one fault that should never wait for a booked slot.

Sparks, arcing or crackling from a power point deserve the same urgency, and so does a breaker that refuses to stay on no matter how many times it's flipped back.

Watch too for scorching creeping out around an outlet, or your place dropping into darkness on its own while next door keeps its lights on. Any of these is worth the phone call straight away rather than tomorrow.
